Carpets from ZANJAN usually have a look and visage similar to those of BIJAR. This fact causes confusion even among experts. ZANJAN's carpets usually have larger patterns than BIJAR. They are single-wefted in the center.
The quality of ZANJAN carpets varies, but they are of lower quality than BIJAR. In general, they are good rugs with cheaper prices.
Size & Shapes:
ZANJAN carpets come in different sizes, but the majority of them are mid-size (4 x 6 to 8 x 10 feet). You can also find large rugs up to 10 x 18 feet.
Dark red, brown and light blue.
Wool, cotton; tight pile.
Warps is mostly cotton; wefts is either cotton or wool.
Weavers in ZANJAN use both Persian and Turkish knots. You should check the back of the carpet because the quality of the carpet depends on the number of knots, which varies, but averages around 120 KPSI (30 RAJ).
ZANJAN carpets are among the most affordable Persian carpets. You can buy a good ZANJAN carpet for $3-$9 Per Square Foot (PSF).
