I congratulate you to own two beautiful Tabriz masterpiece rugs. You had question about the approximate price for each rug. I am not sure where are you? Are you in the US or in different country? If you are looking to sell these rugs and you are in the US, the best option will be friends and family that appreciates rugs and arts. The other option will be finding an honest local rug dealer (Good Luck!) that with 10 %to 20% commissions willing to sell your rugs.
The approximate value for 85 RAJ in Tehran (as of 04/06/02) is 60,000,000 Rails (Iran currency), around $7500.00 US dollars and the 70 RAJ is 35,000,000 (Iran currency) and $ 4325.00 US dollars. Those are retail price of each peace and in wholesale are cheaper. The interesting part is that you can find the same rugs in the US cheaper than IRAN, due to the fact of supply and demand. There was a huge import of Persian rugs and carpets after the US sanctioned removed in 1999 to the US. The US market still is full of high quality of Persian rugs and carpets. This matter has been caused so many local dealers having huge sale and in some cases closed their stores. If you look at the auction houses such as Ebay and search under “Persian Rug” or “ Tabriz” you will find many items for sale! You will get amazed about the number and price of the rugs.
If you are looking to get right price for your rugs in the place you live, go to your local rug dealers. Your local rug dealers are your best bet to get retail price for your rugs. Just walk there act like a customer and find similar type, size and origin rugs and ask them for the price. You can ask them if they are willing to buy your rugs.
