*Message was: Afshin my friend, you do me honor to quote me. You are absolutely correct when you say,
“BUY A RUG BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT NOT BECAUSE OF THE SIGNATURE!”.
I am glad that you are letting people see how easy it is to fake a signature. You are right to teach your readers to appreciate beauty. When you get right down to it the most important point is the beauty of the carpet, not the price, or signature, or knot count. People do not regret regret buying a rug if it is truly beautiful.
Best wishes,

: Dear AD

: I appreciate your message and your comments. I am here to answer your question to the best on my knowledge not to discuss a dealer’s honesty or/and integrity. You can not believe how many request I am receiving every day for SERAFIAN (ISFAHAN), HABIBIAN (NAIN), SARASHAD (KASAHN)….
: My answer to these customers is that I do not have any or if I found authenticate one the price is much higher than average for many buyers.
: Ok! Let’s go to your question!
: You have a valid question about authentication of master weavers’ signature on Persian rugs.
: There are many fake-signed rugs out there and by all means NAIN (Habibian) rugs have the highest score of faked-signed rugs. HABIBAN was a very famous NAIN master weaver who lived in NAIN. I heard that we was born in ISFAHAN and migrate to NAIN. He died many years ago. It’s very hard to find a real HABIBAN in the US market. I rarely found a REAL HABIABN less than $5000 in any shape and size.
: These days, you can find many Habibian signed rugs in your local rug dealers, auction house or online auctions less than $1000. (This is just my opinion and I am not here to disrespect if an honest dealer has a HBIBIAN for less than $1000.)

: Making a fake signature is very bad practice by dishonest local rug dealers. A few dishonest dealers weave a faked signature in their rugs to sell them with higher price.

: They hire a weaver to weave a fake signature in their rugs to mimic the real rugs and jump the price of their rugs 3 folds. It cost them $100 to $250 in US.
: The forces behind their actions are two things:
: 1. Grid
: 2. Naive customers.
: Not everything related to fake signed rug is bad, The good news is that the majority of the fake-signed rugs already have high KPSI and quality.

: “BUY A RUG BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT NOT BECAUSE OF THE SIGNATURE!”

: To the eyes of naive buyer a signature means everything! And dealers are very aware of that as good selling point and they make advantage of the situation.

: I will add a picture of Real HABIBIAN when I found REAL one next time.

: I hope I answered your question properly.

: Thank You
: Afshin Nejad
