| *Message was: I've read some of the earlier posts about Nain rugs and Habibian signatures. I'm not exactly surprised to read that there are a lot of fakes for sale. | Which brings up a question: I've noticed two sets of signatures that are claimed to say "Habibian", very slightly different, but still different. Here are two examples from ebay, from the same seller, with the signature differences (you can click on one of the small pictures to see the signature). I know nothing about the trustworthiness of this seller in general-- and am not really interested in that (I'm not planning to buy any of his rugs). What I'm curious about is whether these signature variations mean anything? Are they normal? Does either look like the signature on genuine Habibian rugs? These are the only two ways I've seen signatures on rugs that are claimed to be Habibian, and I'd love to know what they mean. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1094542092 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1095676488 I'm willing to believe that both signatures are fake, but would dearly love to know what a real one looks like.
