Visibility:
Unlike other KURDISH rugs, MOUSEL(MOSUL)rugs and carpets have some semi- curvilinear patterns. The overall pattern, however, is still in a geometric format.
Quality:
The quality of MOUSEL(MOSUL) rugs is good. The Kurdish weavers use local wool and vegetable dyes.
Size & Shapes:
MOUSEL(MOSUL) carpets and rugs come in different sizes, but the majority of them are mid-size (4 x 6 to 8 x 10 feet).
Color:
The main color scheme is usually characterized by a predominance of multiple shades of red with some blues, greens, or ivory.

Warps is mostly cotton; wefts is either cotton or wool.

Inspection of the back of the carpet is important because the weavers in MOUSEL(MOSUL) use Turkish knots. The quality of the carpet depends upon the number of knots, which varies, but averages around 120 KPSI (30 RAJ).
